Douglas M Trate, MD
Dr. Trate came to Boone in 1996 and worked with Western Carolina Digestive Diseases for one year before opening his own practice, Appalachian Gastroenterology, in 1997. He earned his undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Pennsylvania and his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He did his post graduate training in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at Temple University. Dr. Trate is certified in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Candis L Daugherty, FNP
Candis is a native of Northeast Tennessee and has live in the area all of her life. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at East Tennessee State University and her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Carson-Newman University. Candis joined Appalachian Gastroenterology in 2014 and is a wonderful additional to our practice.
Susan L Hopkins, PA-C
Susan joined Appalachian Gastroenterology in May, 2011. She is a High Country native and earned her undergraduate degree at Appalachian State University. She received her Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Wingate University.
Our Support Staff
Our Clinical Support Staff includes three Registered Nurses, one Licensed Practical Nurse, and two Certified Medical Assistants. Our Administrative Support Staff includes a Certified Gastroenterology Coding Specialist as well as holders of degrees in Office Systems Technology, Accounting and Healthcare Management. All of our staff is very experienced and highly trained. We are committed to giving you the best possible service at every phase of your visit with us.
