Our Providers include a Board Certified Gastroenterologist and Advanced Practice Providers (PA, FNP). The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with their training, professional credentials and work experience.
Douglas M Trate, MD
Dr. Trate came to Boone in 1996 and worked with Western Carolina Digestive Diseases for one year before opening his own practice, Appalachian Gastroenterology, in 1997. He earned his undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Pennsylvania and his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. His post graduate training included 3 years of Internal Medicine and 3 years of fellowship in Gastroenterology at Temple University. Dr. Trate is certified in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Kimberly W. Taylor, FNP-C
Kimberly joined our practice in October, 2017. She is a native of Wilkes County. She earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing as well as her Master of Science in Nursing with concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner from Winston Salem State University. She is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Her background includes Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, Family Practice, Cardiology, Pediatrics, Public Health and Internal Medicine. We are honored to have Kimberly as part of our provider team.
Our Support Staff
Our Clinical Support Staff includes Registered Nurses and Certified Medical Assistants. Our Administrative Support Staff includes a Certified Gastroenterology Coding Specialist as well as holders of various business degrees. All of our staff is very experienced and highly trained. We are committed to giving you the best possible service at every phase of your visit with us.
